Fridge to Fork

I want to create an app that helps people make food with their current ingredients

Summary

My company, Fridge to Fork, is developing a mobile app to help home cooks and busy households discover delicious meals they can make tonight with the unique value proposition of using only the ingredients already in their fridge and pantry — no extra shopping required.

Problem statement

Customers struggle with not knowing what meals they can cook using the ingredients they already have at home, which causes food waste, unnecessary grocery spending, and the frustration of defaulting to takeout or delivery.

Solution

Fridge to Fork is a mobile app that allows users to input the ingredients they currently have on hand and instantly receive personalized, step-by-step recipe suggestions tailored to those items. The app uses smart filtering for dietary preferences, cuisine types, and cooking skill levels to ensure every suggestion is relevant and achievable. By turning pantry inventory into meal inspiration, the app eliminates food waste and removes the daily stress of answering "what's for dinner?"

Growth metric

The key metric to focus on is Weekly Active Recipe Searches per User. To scale this metric to affect 1 million people, the company should implement a viral "share your meal" social feature that lets users post photos of dishes they made through the app, and partner with grocery delivery platforms (e.g., Instacart, Walmart Grocery) to offer seamless one-tap ingredient top-ups for missing items, driving both organic referrals and monetization.
